The Origin Blouse is made from 100% raw silk, a natural fibre with ancient roots, once traded through the lands of Serica, long known for silk production. Chosen for its softness, strength, and fluid drape, this silk feels quietly lush against the skin, with a subtle texture that softens and relaxes with wear.
The fabric falls gently along the body, never clinging, moving with ease and catching light as you do. Lightweight yet grounding, it offers breathability and comfort throughout the day.
Designed with two ties at the front, the silhouette is versatile and understated. It can be worn loosely for an easy, relaxed feel or gently drawn in for a touch of shape. An evolution of our Cocoa Blouse, The Origin Blouse features a slightly more refined cut while maintaining the same wearability and ease.
Each piece is hand dyed by me, using plant-based dyes, allowing color to infuse the silk slowly and organically. These are living colors, nuanced, layered, and shaped by the plants themselves, as well as by sun, time, and process. Subtle variations are part of the making and a reflection of the materials and methods used.
The Origin Blouse is rooted in material honesty: natural silk, plant-derived color, and thoughtful design, made to be worn often and to age beautifully.
Plant Dye Notes
Avocado Pits & Skins with Indigo Dip
This version of The Origin Blouse begins in an avocado dye bath made from both pits and skins, slowly simmered and allowed to develop over time. The raw silk first absorbs a warm, sun-softened base, creating an underlying foundation of gentle clay and sandstone tones.
Once the base color has settled, the silk is dipped into a natural indigo vat, where soft layers of blue are introduced gradually. The indigo interacts with the avocado-dyed ground to create a muted, grey-leaning palette; with stormy, softened blues and a mineral quality reminiscent of weathered stone.
The result is a quietly complex colorway: grounded and neutral, yet full of depth. The warmth of the avocado balances the coolness of the indigo, allowing the tones to shift subtly with light and movement.
Each piece is shaped by timing, number of dips, and the living nature of the dye baths themselves. Variation is expected and embraced, making every blouse a singular expression of layered color and slow process.
