A simple silk layer, botanically flower printed with the garden.
Each of these silk charmeuse tanks is individually eco-printed by hand in my home studio on Salt Spring Island, using an assortment of flowers grown and gathered from my own garden. The petals are placed directly onto the silk, then bundled and steamed, allowing their natural pigments to slowly imprint themselves into the cloth.
No two pieces will ever be quite the same. Each carries its own arrangement of colour, markings and botanical impressions, a small record of the garden and the season in which it was made.
Cut from beautiful silk charmeuse, the tank has a fit similar to our silk slip dresses and fits true to size through the bust. Available in XS–XXL. Worn on its own, it is a beautiful, effortless piece; as the seasons turn cooler, the silk makes a lovely natural layer beneath wool, knits and heavier pieces.
A note on botanical colour
Plant-dyed and eco-printed textiles are living colour. Like a bouquet, the botanical pigments will naturally soften and evolve with time, wear and washing. This is part of the beauty of working with colour gathered directly from the earth, rather than something to be considered a flaw.
To preserve your piece, wash gently by hand in cool water using a pH-neutral soap. Do not soak. Hang or lay flat to dry away from direct sunlight, and store out of prolonged sun when not being worn.
