El Burro — Artisan Hemp/Organic Cotton Edition
Like a sun-warmed postcard from another life, El Burro carries the spirit of long, dusty roads and slow afternoons. Inspired by the kind of shirt your parents might have brought home from a trip to Mexico in the 70s, soft from years of wear, telling its story in every faded thread.
The design, a humble donkey beneath the sun, with cactus standing tall, was first hand-drawn and carved into lino by Nanxi at Studio Flora and Fauna. From that block, the print now meets fabric through local screen printing, right here on Salt Spring Island.
Each shirt is sewn close to home, too, artisan-made from a sturdy yet gentle hemp and organic cotton blend. Oversized and meant to be lived in, it will soften with each wash, draping the way only a well-loved shirt can. One day, it may even feel like it’s been with you forever.
Wear it on road trips with the windows down, to markets by the sea, or on quiet mornings when the only plan is coffee in the sun.
